Welcome
Amélie is a modern Danish brasserie in the heart of one of Denmark’s most iconic cultural venues. A place where classic French craftsmanship meets seasonal Danish produce, and where gastronomy, art, architecture and people merge into one cohesive experience.
The restaurant was created from a desire to make the Opera even more vibrant and accessible—for opera guests as well as local and international visitors. With the Opera’s new outdoor lift, guests now have direct access from street level to the restaurant and rooftop terrace. This means that Amélie can now be experienced as an independent destination, regardless of the performance programme—for lunch, à la carte, a tasting menu, a glass of wine, or larger gastronomic experiences with views of the harbour and Amalienborg.
The name Amélie was chosen as a tribute to the meeting of the French and the Danish, the approachable and the elegant. At the same time, the name draws a poetic line to Amalienborg and the historic axis of which the Opera is a part. Amélie is led by Restaurant Manager Mikkel Borgstrøm and Head Chef Chris Lindegaard, who share the ambition of creating a place where guests feel just as welcome for a spontaneous glass of wine and dinner as for a complete experience before a performance in the auditorium.
In the kitchen, the foundation is the classic brasserie: precise craftsmanship, deep flavours and respect for the season. In the restaurant, it is about attentive hospitality and experiences you can truly feel. The result is a place where Danish produce, an artistic atmosphere and gastronomic quality come together with views of the harbour, Amalienborg, the horizon and the performing arts.
Restaurant Manager, Amélie
As Restaurant Manager, Mikkel Borgstrøm leads the hospitality and the overall guest experience at Amélie. With a background including Nimb Hotel, Restaurant PUK and Food & Wine, he has spent many years working with high-end hospitality, service development and gastronomic operations at the highest level.
Mikkel is a trained sommelier and has in-depth knowledge of wine, service and the guest experience. Since 2023, at LOCA he has helped develop both Amélie and our sister restaurant Dolores in Carlsbergbyen, with a focus on hospitality, quality, structure and the development of strong gastronomic experiences that resonate in the soul.
Head Chef, Amélie
Chris Lindegaard is responsible for Amélie’s gastronomic expression. With experience from, among others, Rosé Rosé Bistro, Restaurant Mondän, Bistro Panpan and Fru Nimb, he has built a strong professional profile rooted in the classic brasserie kitchen and modern Nordic gastronomy.
Chris works with great respect for craftsmanship, ingredients and the season. His cooking is defined by precision, generosity and deep flavours—with the ambition to create gastronomy that feels elegant, immediate and present. At Amélie, his vision is to create an exceptional modern Danish brasserie, where classic French technique meets Danish produce and the Opera’s distinctive atmosphere.
Community
Amélie is part of LOCA—which also operates DOLORES, PAULA, RADIO and KILDEN in the garden at Tivoli. Common to all the restaurants is that ingredients with provenance and respect, responsible supplier choices, and local sourcing as a matter of course are fundamental conditions. Our restaurants and the food we serve must make a difference. For you as a guest. For our colleagues. For nature and for the future.
